We are all recovering from something, whether it be grief, the ego’s grip, addiction, perfectionism, heartbreak. There’s deep recovery, and there’s daily shallow recovery, from our attachment to our prejudices, biases, and ideas that have been formed through the ego.
Recovery takes time, patience, grace. It’s hot, sweaty work that means we have to look into the dark depths of what it means to be human. And to step into recovery takes compassion and gratitude, not just for ourselves, but for every other person in our lives who are also going through recovery, whether they are conscious of it or not.
