Someone recently told me that resistance is only present in the face of movement, this resonated so strongly with me and I wanted to share it with you. Resistance can feel tense, difficult to define or identify yet so present and obviously there. I’ve definitely felt that if only I could break through it, then surely bliss lies on the other side. But I’d never considered that while we ever engage with practices that uplift and expands us, we are going to feel resistance.
Resistance from the old habits, patterns, and beliefs that we’ve become comfortable with, even if they no longer serve us. I love working on this with students when they feel it come around their meditation practice. This is a real sweet spot where we are actively imprinting new habits, seeing the push back from old ways and choosing to move forward anyway. If you feel resistance, know that it is only present in the face of movement and congratulate yourself when you come up against it.
With love,
