Often, well perhaps just in my personal experience and those I see in our students, it’s easier to avoid the things that frighten us and just deal with the top layer things. Paddle about in our consciousness instead of diving deep into ourselves, our why’s, our past, and our future.
I think often it’s not just it can frighten us, but that we aren’t equipped to ask the right questions. This is the work I do with private mentoring, the curious question posing that brings about deep understanding and inner wisdom from students. It’s no telling people what to do but probing so they arrive their themselves. It’s empowering.
So this weekend, consider:
- what are you shying away from, that frightens you. Not of the world necessarily, but of yourself, what you’re capable and believe yourself to be incapable of
- of a question were to be posed, that you could spend 6 months or more answering for yourself, what would that question be?
- instead of asking How Are You? What are three other questions you could ask people on seeing them. Memorize them and in each situation choose one of them to raise where you can to keep your curiosity alive, and your conversation engaged.
With love,
