As Ram Dass once said, “One part of getting free, free into the soul or into the witness, is the ability to stand back a little bit, because now you are identified with being the witness rather than being the player, and thus you can see the play more clearly”. It’s easy to get wrapt up in and identified with our thoughts. We aren’t taught early on that we are not actually our thoughts, that’s just because we think them doesn’t make them true.
This idea of the Witness, is where we can observe rather than get snagged in them. Where they are like little fish swimming around, and not a net to be caught up in. This gives us the ability to choose which thoughts we want to buy into, and which thoughts to let go of. It brings more spaciousness and clarity and presence, observing rather than diving deeply into.
This week, spend some time, observing your mind, instead of heeding it constantly.
With love,
