The Besieged Everydayness Of Life

Remember that episode of The Simpsons were Marge blew a mind gasket and froze up on the bridge, windows up, refusing to come out of the car? She was so overwhelmed with responsibility and no time to herself she just lost it. I’ve almost been there myself when Marley was small and I had a few businesses going simultaneously. It’s a hideous emotional cliff to stand on the edge of.

Carving out aloneness, time for oneself to be, and time to meditate is imperative. Time to cultivate ideas, feel through concepts and simply BE as a human Being instead of always, constantly engaging as a human Doing is up to us.

In today’s age, I think it should be one of our greatest commitments. Because peaceful people that know themselves and don’t feel besieged, usually act kindly, with compassion and don’t do a lot of the awful things we are capable of as humans. So let’s stop feeling guilty for taking some moments for ourselves.
