Frequently, we are very good at giving help. Generous, unbounded in our ability to help others. Why? Because helping someone we like feels good, doesn’t it? In fact, at times it can feel absolutely wonderful.
On the other hand, we are usually, I have found, not great at receiving help, and even worse at outright asking for help. If this is you I want you to ponder this…why are you being so selfish? Why are you robbing others of the wonderful experience of helping someone?
A lot of the time we don’t ask or receive help well because our ego blocks us from this experience. And it also blocks us from the connection, the gratitude, and the appreciation that both parties get when help is graciously given and received.
