We are building on a theme here, which you might have picked up on because it’s my obsessive personality to get caught on ideas. I hope you do the same. The soaking in a concept until it’s a reality. Until you don’t think, you just feel.
The theme I am working on constantly is daily devotion to the present. Finding fulfilment in the smallest of tasks. The present is the only thing that is utterly perfect, yet we try to find perfection in so many other lost areas of our lives.
It’s the rinsing of rice; with water becoming cloudy with starch, and the sense of the coolness on our skin, the sound of the water draining and filling the pot again for a second rinse. It’s feeling our feet carry us to the letterbox, sensing every muscle as we walk, hearing the sounds as we lift the lid, feeling the paper in our hand, the weight of the envelopes. Watching the water boil and bubble as we boil the kettle for our tea. Smelling deeply the smell of the tea before we plunge the bag into water. Sipping slowly as the heat swirls from the cup. Feeling the temperate change in our mouths then whole bodies.
I have found my most connected moments are the small, tiny, often neglected daily ones. It’s time we slow down enough to live every day fully through these moments.
Sent with love,
