It’s much harder not to be moved by praise than it is by blame at times. We sometimes desire finding equilibrium (our centre point) when turbulence is in our lives, but can we also find it when we are praised? Can we resist the ego dipping into fear AND also resist the fear being stroked and inflating?
We are usually taught to invest heavily in finding our feet in the storm of our lives, of being stoic, and not being thrown off course when all goes sideways. The other side is to not being thrown off course when things go particularly well, adjusting wildly to things ‘going our way’ and calibrating ourselves to a lot of praise and upliftment. How we can tell if we are pushing and pulling ourselves into different polarities is if we feel like we have ‘gone off course’ or hit a wall, or ‘come down’ from the heights of something we were attached to.
If we can experience and enjoy the good and the bad, have fun with them both, then we can accept the shifts as just part of the game.
