Why is being in the present moment so insanely hard in day to day life? We agree we are so distracted, we fret about the future and worry about the past. I found it so stunningly simple to be present whilst in the Buddhist hermitage. Joyous. Then bang! Back into London life and I can feel my presence and calm skittering away like a little mouse.
Coming back to the present though is as simple as being aware when we are ‘not here’ so we can come back. Checking in with our senses is incredibly helpful, and asking what am I feeling right now and naming that emotion and experience. Awareness then recognition.
