I adore this passage, as in today’s world where action, go-getting and forcing are highly applauded, we can forget the gentle things. The soft things. In Taoism, things that are referenced are breath and air, water and vapour, and how we can relate, create space for experiences like these, referring to nature for inspiration.
Too often we react too fast, speak too quickly and jump the gun. What would a little space look like? How can we adopt the qualities of water moving from firm (ice), to soft (liquid) (a current) to gentle (a lake), to that which seems solid (cloud) but is in fact moving.
Non-action is also an action. Not doing is a decision. The masterful way is knowing when to choose what.
