L E T T E R from Jac – The Danger of The Majority

When it comes to spiritual growth, self-development and our active evolving, it can get tricky at times. Sometimes what we want to believe is so strong, that we can start to ignore reality. We can get caught up in strange little situations, ignore certain parts because other parts feel so right. We can actually fall completely out of alignment with why we got involved in the first place.

I have witnessed this, and unconsciously done this too many times and felt compelled today to share a few things… When I talk about ‘community’ it can also be friendships, social, fitness or workgroups, as well as spiritual groups.

  • Be discerning. Just because you’re part of a community doesn’t mean you have to choose every part of it to be a part of your life. Remove that which doesn’t align. If there’s more that doesn’t align with you than it does, take a deeper look.

  • Find your truth. If you find yourself using strange or flowery language to describe something, a belief system or community or behaviours, check yourself; is this language/turn of phrase really true for you and what does it really mean? If you can’t explain it succinctly to a 6-year-old, it probably is more riddled with nonsense than truth.

  • Orientate from your inner compass. If you ever find yourself using the above phrases to excuse people’s bad behaviour, seriously check yourself. There is nothing ‘spiritual’ about not being moral, not being kind and not being compassionate. Conscious behaviour should never involve excuses or justification for yours or others actions.

  • A handy little question that can be asked hypothetically is this ‘if I am 80, and explaining this situation to my grandchild, will I be richly describing this current situation as something I wish they could also experience one day OR will I explain it away as a strange moment in time, from a very long time ago

I hope this can bring some clarity should you need it.
