One of the other lines within this chapter of the Tao Te Ching is ‘those who know when they have enough will suffer no disappointment’. How can we know when enough is enough? Personally I have loved some of the learnings that have been forced upon my family; living without the majority of our personal belongings has taught us all a lot, not dining out, minimising if not almost eliminating all our socialising, slowing RIGHT down, realigning our expectations and working with the unexpected. There have been deep learnings within all of these situations, some I thought mistakenly I already knew well, and others that are new in tone, new in action.
There have been moments that have brought me to my knees, but when I ask which is more desired/greater/harmful, I can see with clarity that all is actually okay but needing massive adjustment. So through the lens of this Tao Te Ching chapter, how can you frame up something troubling you right now? What might your outlook be?
