Ordeals are challenging. Lockdown is boring and frustrating. Illness is the terrible. Divorce is horrible.
Or, are they and they and their siblings of change, simply grist for the mill?
Are they the mechanics by which we can sort the grain from the chaff of our lives?
Are they the exact, perfectly curated opportunities for us to meet ourselves deeply, meet our lives in each moment, with curiosity and learning?
It’s a shift of perspective, a click of the lens to bring other things into focus. I often think of life situations like a magic eye puzzle, we tensely focus, desperately trying to see what is hidden within the image, and then suddenly, usually when we relax our focus a little, the image presents! Suddenly we can’t unsee it.
So what if we approached all these ‘challenges’ with a more relaxed view. Knowing soon, one day they will make sense, and we will grasp what’s going on. Until then, we keep a gentle eye on it, and just go for the ride.
