After studying meditation in various lineages for a decade, something dawned on me. I was looking for this experience of utter bliss, where I would feel the best ever I could feel. And if the best I was to feel was sitting still with my eyes closed, perhaps I didn’t want that. Perhaps I actually wanted to feel amazing in my life, with the people I love, doing the things I loved. That should be my optimum.
I learnt soon after Vedic Meditation, and loved that the whole philosophy is about this. We meditate as our sittings give us more vibrancy and enhances our life ‘eyes open’. It’s about all the other bits in between meditation, not the 20 minutes. We sit for 20 minutes to be better in our lives, not better at meditation.
It’s an important thing to note, if you are chasing an experience of heady enlightenment or levitation or something within your meditation practice, we recommend a practice that actually just makes you better at life!
Emily, Jo and I are teaching around England, Australia and America, if you want to come join us for a course in Integrated Meditation we would love to have you.
