L E T T E R from Jo – The Illusion Of Limitation

Consider the sheer number of “norms” we face. The rules and regulations that our society endorses, enforces, and places upon us in an unwitting agreement – without our conscious realisation. These seemingly invisible forces that compel us to act, behave, and even feel – covert and un-questioning, all for dubious benefits. We are held, almost spellbound, waiting for permission, waiting to be told when it’s okay to change, grow and to do things differently.

Yes, there are the pioneers, their courage and bravery to go against the grain is truly remarkable, the stepping out of the group safety net, expanding past their own perceived limitations, pushing out the boundaries, becoming a beacon, a revelation, a pathway and inspiration for the rest of us.

Waking us up to the possibilities and potential that we were all previously oblivious to… teaching us that our own autopilot can be a very dangerous place.

This fable (author unknown) is a reminder that often times we create our own reality and then behave accordingly …

A tourist was passing a group of elephants, when suddenly they stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from the ropes but for some reason, they did not. The tourist saw a trainer nearby and asked why these magnificent animals just stood there, making no attempt to get away. “Well,” the trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we used the same size of rope to tie them and at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

As individuals we make up the whole, it is through our own actions and accountabilities that we contribute, participate and help the world to evolve and grow – society is our responsibility.

Let’s get curious about what we’re actually doing and who we are actually being and whether this is in alignment to our own beautiful truth.

Love,
