I often ponder why it’s so hard to follow our hearts and even harder sometimes to hear what they have to say. I end up in the same place each time, the heart is from our higher selves, and therefore is quieter. Because it doesn’t have an agenda, or a timeline. It knows implicitly that we will get there in the end, and connect to it. The ego, on the other hand, has timelines, agendas and frequently throws tantrums if not listened to, let alone heeded. So we spend most of our time with the ‘brattier child’.
The ego also usually tells us a story to keep us safe, and in it’s small, narrow, fearful view, and to keep us from imagined criticism.
So I love this quote deeply, because the truth of the matter is, we’ll be criticised by someone, somewhere, no matter what. And that one place we are always guaranteed to hear criticism, is usually in our own heads.
