The ego, so loud, so insistent, so annoying, so abrupt. The heart, so gentle, so mild, so curious.
If we continue to honour our ego over our heart, the universe will eventually roar so loudly, with such force that we will be forced to listen.
I sit with students every week, that all come to a place where they say with anguish and suffering, ‘all the signs, all the warnings, all the hints were there and I ignored them all, and now here I am’.
I sit with students all the time that have been delivered circumstances that have taken the ground out from underneath them. I was there too. The terror, the free fall, the life as I know it will never be the same. And we all end up at the same place.
We value family, friends, beautiful heart orientated people in our lives. We stop entertaining negative people, and really upgrade our relationships as the nonsense doesn’t deserve to be entertained.
We value time over money. Our currency values shift.
We value renown over fame. We want learned, inspired mentors over celebrity.
We value authenticity over prestige. We want genuineness and vulnerability over glitz, and shiny words.
We value tiny, awe-filled moments and daily, over waiting for the flashy holiday or the grand promotion.
And, we value heart over ego.
And no matter how shocking our experiences, we always forget this and have to return to it. No one stays fully grateful and present, we are human.
But what would life look like if we didn’t need an earth-shattering experience to gift us this? What if we just shifted now? Before the universe had to roar?
